Google launched website’s mobile-friendliness and page speed tool for small businesses

Google's project list expanded with a new resource for website owners and developers - With it, you can determine whether the mobile version of the site is suitable for use in terms of three parameters:

  • Mobile-friendliness Mobile speed - download speed on mobile devices
  • Mobile speed - loading speed on mobile devices
  • Desktop speed - speed of loading website on the desktop

Testmysite by Google

Each score is ranked on a scale from 0 to 100, and Google offers a test result to send the webmaster so that he could take any action if necessary.

It seems like new tool uses good old PageSpeed Insights API. In this connection, you can easily find out the criteria by which Google evaluates the load speed of the site and its suitability for mobile devices. Google pays the greatest attention to two indicators:

  • boot time for the top of the page: total time to display the upper part of the page in browser
  • time page is fully loaded: total time of the request to its full page display in the browser.
